Sadly I think a lot of people can't handle the truth! I have to check myself and my feelings after w I read something or recieve a critique of a song I may have sung. I tell myself "before you react, think about the message." My belief is that being uncomfortable can help you grow. There are a lot of government policies that are being put into affect that many people may not be aware of, present company included, but it will affect us all. Stay informed even if it hurts!
You are correct about that...we are too entertained to handle the truth and too distracted to accept negatives that may be helpful to critically think our way to modify/create positive outcomes. It's funny you mention about your thinking about your music. A political mentor of mine always stated that everything has meaning and is the result of political choices and decisions. I use that perspective when I'm reviewing TV and movies. I went to see the movie "The Fire Inside" https://www.fandango.com/the-fire-inside-2024-232240/movie-overview and was pleasantly surprised how entertaining it is but I saw a few shots of the Flint, Michigan water tower in the background. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FxbQK_aEgio I'll wait and see if anyone comments on that subtheme. More than likely, people will absolutely focus on the main theme.
