Keep with the righteous rage James. Nothing changes if THE people don't change their effing minds. Being ignorant is not an excuse anymore.

Thanks Vee!

As a "born in SW Virginia native", growing up in the fifties and sixties, attending segregated schools and movies, the devotion to "The Lost Cause" and to White Supremacy was important.

Understanding the CRT that terrorizes White Supremacists has been a long traveled road with many potholes and fallen trees.

My own appreciation of the Patriarchal Religious Nationalist Theocrats who have racist ideologies all over the world motivates my devotion to the aspirations of democratic representation here and around the world.

Our historic abuses of our fellow people based on race, religion, or national origin is still being fought against in 2026.

Thanks Bill. I came out of West Virginia and I see our motivations have solid roots. If others only knew.

Stay strong and don't put up with the fools. As you say, they just hope to confuse the issues and waste your time and energy.

Thank Virginia! I just told my son the other day to immediately remove himself from the ignorant among us-they are the zombies. :)

"Not up for debate" will resonate with many people, I'm sure. I have my own line: "end of discussion." Other such structures also work.

<< The idea that plantation politics are refused apparently reads as extreme. >> Uh...I believe Martin Luther King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail" has a number of paragraphs devoted to such "extremism."

Finally: << The facts, history, testimony, patterns, analysis, quotes, and solutions aren’t going anywhere. >> I would render it thusly: The facts, history, testimony, patterns, analysis, quotes, and solutions aren’t going anywhere: end of discussion!

WOAH! JAMES, THANK YOU.

I'm actually still reading (liking your post) but as a very big Prince fan... #RIP... I NEVER knew where that clip came from: Bernie Mac. P used it as the lead/intro in his song, 'Pope' (on B-sides). He found it powerful, too. THANK YOU.

Thanks! I'll check it out.

Also two other songs of Prince that have not shyed away from saying the things others won't:

1. RACE (he does a double entendre with 'marathon' and 'color') "cut me, cut you, both the blood is red."

2. Also, DEAR MR. MAN is a good social commentary.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3yzaTNel_A

And just like old days of learning gospels through SONG... that's precisely what he did... sometimes you were singing powerful lyrics of his, you wouldn't TRULY understand til MUCH later.

I'd really hoped to see what his 70yo and 90yo Prince music would have sounded liked. Alas... called home early.

DIE-ing!!!!!!!! THAT was nuts.

I had no idea a) it was from him; b) that it's part of his whole show.

#enlightened lol

#FOLLOWING you — and 100% agree.

I came out of my Jan 2017 visit to NMAAHC (powerful museum in DC) and realized there is TOO much important stuff left out of our history books (or 'KEPT' out). And following the "be the change you want to see in the world", I created a COMPREHENSIVE (and still evolving) "history book" — the timeline. Link is in bio.

I'm in the DC area, grew up in Stone Mtn., GA... ONLY LAST YEAR did I learn the full history of Lake Lanier and Stone Mtn (though I knew some). WE. NEED. TO. KNOW. IT. ALL. Still digging.

Thanks so much. Interesting!

Excellent! I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a post from you,James so thank you Leslye for the restack. And thank you, James for Bernie Mac. I was heartbroken when he passed and I’ve missed him terribly. Perfect and a great surprise to see and hear him now. Made me smile! Many blessings to you, James. Glad to meet you. Onward.💜

james's avatar

Thank you so much Jean. Bernie was one of a kind-had that old school appeal that is needed in this confusion. Leslye is excellent in her essays but her comments and restacks are also gold. :)

Jean's avatar

Agreed to both! It also broke my heart because he was so young when he died and I felt that he was just finally getting the recognition that he well deserved.

IMDb has some of his shows and I started to search after I wrote you but was unable to continue. Too much going on over here that I need to take care of. I am also a technical idiot, totally analog and even if I find things, I always screw up when I try to share them. See if you might find it there. I wasn’t able to find on PBS either. Tavis disappeared suddenly after the Me Too revelations. He had done such incredible interviews. Hope they’re still around somewhere. Bernie died in August of 2008 and the interview was no more than a year prior.

james's avatar

Thanks Jean. I check it out and let you know if I find anything.

Jean's avatar

Did you ever see Bernie’s interview with Tavis Smiley? It was shortly before he passed. Wonderful. It’s probably somewhere in the PBS archives.

james's avatar

I saw a clip and looked around but I imagine PBS buried it after they let Tavis go.

Thanks for the compliment.

Thank you ! "Not up for debate" resonated with me.

I came up with that phrase “Not Up For Debate” when a male classmate said that he thought that some women were exaggerating when they said they experienced excruciating pain from menstrual cramps.

My response was, “You have never had a menstrual cramp like I have never suffered severe pain from being kicked in the balls for the obvious reasons. None of this is up for debate. Some things require that you accept a person’s lived experiences.”

An incident like that inspired wisdom! :)

That's right, James! No deference!

Hi Joanne, you would think that this platform is more intellectual, but the trash follows. :)
