The meaning behind the King movement has been lost. Just having a holiday without doing the work will not bring about change. I respect the hard work Dr. King and many others did, but I am not sure society at large has a clue what it was all about nor the impact he was trying to make for ALL people.

I always give background to young people before they do something like this because many only rely on the school to teach them. You know I was cringing with any reference to King today at the inauguration. There was a black minister channeling King and all I could think is that his knowledge is superficial as the rest of the folks in attendance.
It annoys me that so many people use MLK's name so freely without knowing some of the backstory. He was fighting for the rights of everyone, especially middle to low income groups. I think a lot of people use his name but don't support what he really represents.
